Zambia : EIZ lauds GOVT's dedication towards enhancing ZAMBIA's infrastructure.

The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) has lauded the government's dedication towards enhancing the country's infrastructure as it will boost the transport industry.

According to EIZ vice president for policy, public relations and national development George Sitali, infrastructural growth will help to raise the standard of the railway system, road network and general infrastructure development in Zambia.

Sitali said EIZ is currently creating a national, long-term infrastructure strategy to address the country's immediate demand for greater investment in the industry.

EIZ unveiled the infrastructure report card framework last October, that will grade the level of the built infrastructure in selected economic spheres.

Sitali further said the infrastructure report card will enable Zambia to showcase the significance of infrastructure assets to national economy.

He said : 'We would like to applaud the government s commitment to renewing Zambia s infrastructure which will boost the transport sector, specifically the railway system and the road network'.

He added : 'EIZ has declared 2013 as a year of engagement, this is a year we want engineers to be proactive in pushing boundaries. The institution is committed to promote competence, quality, professionalism and compliance so that today s works can stand the test of time'.
