Zaiter inaugurates public transportation station in Riyak.

NNA - Public Works and Transportation Minister, Ghazi Zaiter, on Friday inaugurated the public transportation station of Riyak, hoping that this event would be a prelude to a strong and unified Lebanon.

The Minister seized the occasion to shed light on what he described as a chaotic situation storming the public transport sector in Lebanon.

"This has become a huge burden for the treasury and citizens to carry," he said, pointing to the many vacant positions at the public transport directorate "which is in a pressing need for restructuring."

Moreover, the Minister confirmed that the public transportation sector will in no way pose any sort of threat to private transport companies.

"Actually, there exists an opportunity for a future joint project between both the private and public transport sectors to provide the Lebanese citizens with decent transportation services, all across Lebanon," he added.
