ZURN ANNOUNCES $80 MILLION IN POWER PLANT CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS
 ERIE, Pa., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Zurn Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ZRN), a leading designer and manufacturer of power sytems and equipment, and water control products for environmental applications, announced two new power plant contruction projects totaling $80 million.
 Zurn will design and construct a 106 megawatt combined-cycle plant in Florida and a 34-megawatt wood-burning facility in Michigan. Both projects will use Zurn steam generating eqiupment.
 The company will build a combined-cycle plant for Lake Cogen, Ltd., in partnership with North Canadian Power, Inc. Located in Umatilla, Fla., it will sell electricity to Florida Power Corp. and steam to Golden Gem Growers, a citrus cooperative. Work on the project will begin immediately and is expected to be completed in June 1993.
 The wood-burning power plant is the company's second for Alternative Energy, Inc. It will be loacted in Cadillac, Mich., and will sell electricity to Consumers Power Company. Construction begins in April with completion planned for September 1993.
 Announcing the new orders, Zurn Chairman George H. Schofield, said, "With these projects added to our fourth quarter backlog, Zurn has over 1,200 megawatts of electric power generation worth over $1 billion built or under construction since 1986. The company will continue to be a leading competitor for projects like these as additonal generating capacity is installed. We are encouraged by the volume of design and construction work available to us."
