ZITEL ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF PERFORMANCE & MODELING INC.
MILPITAS, Calif., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Zitel Corp. (NASDAQ: ZITL) and Performance & Modeling Inc. (P&M) announced today the successful conclusion of Zitel's acquisition of P&M, a software development and consulting company located in West Chester, Pa. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
P&M was integral in this design and development of Zitel's recently announced Value Analysis Modeling (VAM) software system. VAM provides Unisys mainframe sites an unusual capability to optimize system storage investment. The rule-based software tool can model the performance, reliability and cost of a proposed storage configuration, using actual system data. VAM is a PC-based tool which operates in a Windows 3.0 environment.
Jack H. King, president of Zitel, said, "During the development of VAM Phase I this past year, we have continually been impressed by Mike Salsburg's creativity and professional capabilities. The acquisition of P&M will allow us to work more closely on Phases II and III -- as well as to pursue other advanced software products. Also, this acquisition is consistent with Zitel's strategic objective of adding value to its storage products by enhancing performance through software-based embedded intelligence."
Michael A. Salsburg, founder of P&M, will continue as president of the subsidiary and will become a corporate vice president of Zitel. Salsburg commented, "Because of this acquisition, Performance & Modeling will gain the momentum to deliver more advanced capacity planning and performance-related software which is sorely needed in the industry. Together, Zitel and Performance & Modeling are excited about producing advanced storage subsystems that deliver optimum, cost-effective performance."
Zitel Corp. designs, manufactures and markets high-speed storage subsystems for various applications for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and business end-users of standard mini-computers and mainframe computers.
