ZIFFWIRE, NEWSNET & INFORMATION INC.NOW AVAILABLE ON MAINSTREAM NEWSCAST

SALT LAKE CITY, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Mainstream Newscast, which provides satellite-delivered news to desktop computers, announces the addition of ZiffWire, NewsNet, and Information Inc. to its wide array of news services. All three information providers have signed multiyear contracts with Mainstream Data, a Salt Lake City-based telecommunications company.
More than 150 information services from 20 information providers are now available via Mainstream Newscast. In addition to newcomers, ZiffWire, NewsNet and Information Inc., Mainstream Data's wireless network allows end-users throughout North America to receive real- time news from companies such as Reuters, Associated Press, Dow Jones, Knight Ridder/Tribune, PR Newswire, Business Wire, and others. The new services will be beneficial for end-users in a wide variety of markets:
-- Technology news from Ziff-Davis' vast publishing empire including full text from PC Week, PC Magazine, PC Computing, MacWeek and Computer Shopper, etc.
-- Approximately 300 business and industry trade publications assembled by NewsNet representing 17 vertical markets.
-- Executive summaries from Information Inc. scanned from 650 professional and industry-related trade journals, major newspapers and newswires.
News from these sources is delivered from Mainstream Data's satellite/FM sideband network directly to an end-user's Apple Macintosh or PC desktop computer where specified news stories are then filtered and displayed on the monitor. Mainstream Newscast can also be utilized with local area networks and integrated with leading e-mail systems such as WordPerfect Office, Microsoft Mail, and Quickmail.
By piping data directly to the end-user's desktop computer, Mainstream's network bypasses the phone company and eliminates charges for connect time, searches and the need for a modem. All that is necessary to receive from Mainstream Data is a few feet of coaxial cable and a special FM receiver (called an IDR or "Intelligent Data Receiver") or a satellite dish.
John Bennion, executive vice president of Mainstream Data said that the addition of ZiffWire, NewsNet and Information Inc. to Mainstream Data's news sources "enables us to deliver breaking news and information on virtually any vertical market -- be it technology, pharmaceuticals or energy. "What's more," said Bennion, "we can provide news to an executive located anywhere in North America in a dependable and cost-effective manner."
Mainstream Data, founded in 1985, owns and operates a North America-wide data broadcasting network that disseminates time- sensitive information to more than 15,000 sites. In addition to delivering the world's top news services into LAN e-mail systems, Mainstream Newscast also works with leading third-party software such as Verity's "Topic Real-Time," Logicon's "LMDS" and the newly released "Apple-Search" from Apple Computer Inc.
