ZEOS INTERNATIONAL HIGH SPEED WINDOWS WORKSTATIONS SET PERFORMANCE RECORD

ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- ZEOS International, Ltd. (NASDAQ: ZEOS) announced today the availability of a new high- performance video option for its just introduced line of Intel i486 based personal computer workstations.
Based on Weitek Corporation's new Power 9000 high-performance graphics interface processor coupled with the ZEOS system's VESA standard local bus interface, the new video solution delivers dramatically enhanced performance for users of Microsoft Corporation's popular Microsoft Windows graphical user interface program.
"We believe enhancing the video performance of Microsoft Windows based applications is a priority, particularly in light of the incredible success of the Windows operating environment and Windows based applications software," commented Greg Herrick, CEO of ZEOS International.
The new ZEOS video option is discussed in the Jan. 26, 1993 issue of PC Magazine. In that issue, the magazine reviewed 74 Intel i486DX2 66MHz personal computer systems, including a ZEOS i486DX2-66 system with the new ZEOS video option.
Commenting on the ZEOS systems video performance, PC Magazine said, "The stand-out was the ZEOS 486DX2-66 system that blew all competitors away -- in some cases performing more than 10 times as fast as competitors."
"Anyone who uses Microsoft Windows understands the importance of high speed video performance and ZEOS quite simply left every other competitor in the dust," noted Rick Apple, vice president of marketing at ZEOS.
While calling the ZEOS video system "stunning" PC Magazine also compared it to the competition. "The biggest news among them is the ZEOS 486DX2-66's video system which, at a Graphics Winmark score of 42.6 megapixels per second, shattered our previous record -- eclipsing the score of the Compaq QVision |Compaq Computer Corporation~ graphics adapter by nearly fourfold," the magazine said. "The ZEOS 486DX2-66 is a Windows desktop machine that blew away our Windows graphics test routines (it doubled the score of its closest competitor and was nearly four-fold better than our previous best-ever score)," the magazine went on to say.
According to PC Magazine "Graphics Winmark" test used "is based on 12 Windows graphics and text functions derived from extensive profiling of Popular Windows applications. It is measured in megapixels per second (a megapixel is 1,048,576 pixels)."
ZEOS also bested other popular manufacturer's product. While the ZEOS system measured a score of a whopping 42.64 megapixels per second (MPS), the Dell Computer Corporation Model 466DE/2 was only able to muster a score of 7.44 megapixels per second. Other manufacturers video performance include IBM Corporation's PS/2 Model 77 486DX2 at 7.06 MPS, AST Research Inc.'s Bravo 4/66d at 4.45 MPS and Digital Equipment Corporation's DECpc 466d2LP system with a score of 9.02 megapixels per second.
In the subsequent issue of PC Magazine columnist Jim Seymour summed it all up in a column entitled "How About Value Buying?" Commenting on the new ZEOS 486DX2-66 reviewed he said, "We were dazzled when we tested it for our roundup of 66MHz DX2s ... It's Graphics Windmark score of 42.64 megapixels per second far eclipsed any score we'd ever seen -- or expected to see for some time to come -- on our benchmark test. Yet at a little more than $3,000, it costs less than the average machine in that group. The ZEOS 486DX2-66 was about $1,000 more expensive than the very lowest priced one in our roundup, but it delivered so much more value that there was little comparison between the two. That's value pricing."
The high performance video option is available only to purchasers of ZEOS's new line of i486-based personal computer systems at $149 in addition to the standard system price. Customers interested in these high performance ZEOS systems should call the ZEOS sales department at 800-423-5891. The company is open 24 hours a day.
ZEOS International, Ltd., manufactures and markets, direct to end users, ISA and EISA (Industry and Extended Industry Standard Architecture) personal computer systems and workstations worldwide. The company also provides contract product design services through its PC Tech subsidiary.
