ZENITH DATA SYSTEMS WITHDRAWS FROM ACE
BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Zenith Data Systems

(ZDS), a Bull company, today notified participants in the Advanced Computing Environment (ACE) that ZDS is withdrawing its membership, effective immediately.
In April 1991, ZDS joined 20 other firms as a founding member of ACE, which had as its goal the development of an independent standard for a reduced instruction set computing (RISC) platform. In January 1992, ZDS reduced its level of participation in ACE to a technical advisory role.
"Progress by Intel, one of our strategic partners, on the next generation of high-performance microprocessors has made our involvement in the ACE initiative much less necessary," said Alan Soucy, ZDS vice president of product strategy and advanced planning.
Zenith Data Systems, a Bull company, is a leading supplier of notebook and desktop PCs, servers, monitors and related peripherals. With headquarters in Buffalo Grove, the company has engineering facilities in St. Joseph, Mich., Santa Clara, Calif., and Billerica, Mass.; manufacturing facilities in St. Joseph, Mich., and Villeneuve d'Ascq, France; and sales locations in more than 30 countries.
