ZDS ADJUSTS PRICES ON SELECTED NOTEBOOK AND DESKTOP PCs, MONITORS

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Zenith Data Systems, a Bull company, lowered prices today on some of its most popular notebook and desktop personal computers and monitors by as much as 23 percent.
"The PC price war is far from over," said Clifford A. Jenks, executive vice president of ZDS North American sales & marketing. "Today's action is a sign to our customers that ZDS will maintain its very aggressive price-performance position in the marketplace."
Today's price reductions affect all models of the Z-SPORT and selected models of the award-winning Z-NOTE notebook PC. The new ZDS price for the Z-SPORT 325S Model 60 is $999, a reduction of $300 (23 percent). This notebook features a 25MHz Intel386 SX microprocessor, 2MB of RAM and a 60MB hard drive.
"ZDS is the first major personal computer maker to break the $1,000 barrier with a full-featured notebook," said Jenks.
The new ZDS price on the Z-NOTE 320L Model 60 is $1,499, a reduction of $200 (11 percent). The Z-NOTE is the first notebook PC to feature a built-in Ethernet connection. The Z-NOTE 320L Model 60 features a 20MHz Intel386 SL microprocessor, 2MB of RAM and a 60MB hard drive. MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups, and the three most popular local area network (LAN) client shells are pre-installed and pre-configured.
Prices on selected ZDS desktop personal computers, including Z-STATIONs and the new Z-400+, were cut by as much as 19 percent.
"There's never been a better time to buy a computer or to step up to some of the latest technology from ZDS," said Jenks.
The new ZDS price on a Z-STATION 433Dh Model 200 is $1,900. This Z-STATION features a 33MHz Intel486 DX microprocessor, 4MB of RAM, a 200MB hard drive, four full expansion slots and a LAN module. All Z-STATIONs have the ability to use optional ZDS SCSI and Windows Accelerator Modules without using the systems' full expansion slots.
The Z-425S+ Model 170 has a new ZDS price of $1,399, a reduction of nearly 5 percent. This desktop PC features a 25MHz Intel486 SX microprocessor, 4MB of RAM, 1MB of video DRAM on a local video bus and 170MB hard drive.
The company also reduced prices on selected monitors, including the ZCM-1790 and the ZCM-1495. The ZCM-1790 is an award-winning multisync, high-resolution (1024x768) color monitor. It uses patented "flat tension mask" technology for a high-brightness, high-contrast 17-inch diagonal display (16-inch viewable) that virtually eliminates glare and reflection. The new ZDS price for the ZCM-1790 is $999, a reduction of 18 percent.
The ZCM-1495, a 14-inch color VGA (640x480) monitor, also uses "flat tension mask" technology. Its new ZDS price is $499, a reduction of more than 20 percent.
