ZAP POISED TO BE ELECTRIC VEHICLE MARKET LEADER.

What if millions of cars could suddenly end their ruinous dependence on foreign oil? Why are electric vehicles about to become a reality? What if there existed an affordable, stylish, green line of vehicles that was environmentally friendly, made in the USA, and eligible for tax incentives?

An acronym for Zero Air Pollution, ZAP is an appropriate name for the revolutionary, Santa Rosa-based car company engaged in the development, acquisition, commercialization, and distribution of 100% plug-in electric vehicles and electric vehicle power systems in the United States. The business is divided into two market segments: Consumer/Retail and Corporate/Fleet. ZAP's products include cars, trucks, vans along with scooters and personal mobility transporters.

With new government incentives in place, ZAP plans to begin moving its manufacturing and assembly operations to the U.S. to achieve logistics economies, take advantage of available and experienced labor and to set a level of quality standards the competitors can only try to match.

ZAP has created the Alias, a freeway-speed vehicle, jointly designed by Lotus Engineering of Europe and ZAP's US-based automotive engineers. Sporting futuristic contours, the Alias is 100% electric, 100% of the time, can recharge via any outlet either at home or on the road, has a maximum driving speed of seventy-five+ MPH, a range of over one hundred miles, and goes from zero to sixty mph more than quickly.

After numerous fits and starts, the electric vehicle seems to have finally arrived. The U.S. Department of Transportation has estimated that the hybrid/electric vehicle market will top 32.5 million vehicles by 2015. And, in mid-April, the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) declared carbon dioxide and five other heat-trapping gases to be pollutants that endanger public health and welfare, an announcement that is expected to set in motion a process that will lead to the federal regulation of the gases for the first time in U.S. history. With one of the broadest electric vehicle portfolios in the industry, and the largest independent EV distribution network in the nation, ZAP is poised to become the market leader in electric vehicles and alternative energy automobiles.
