ZACKS INVESTMENT RESEARCH LAUNCHES 'ANALYST WATCH(TM)' INDIVIDUAL INVESTORS GET THE SAME ANALYSIS THE PROFESSIONALS USE

CHICAGO, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Analyst Watch(TM), a new investment service just introduced by Zacks Investment Research, now offers the individual investor a comprehensive summary of U.S. brokerage research and analyses that previously was the exclusive domain of the professional investment community.
Analyst Watch provides the individual investor with continually updated earnings estimates and buy/hold/sell recommendations made by 2,500 Wall Street Analysts for 4,000 stocks. Also included in Analyst Watch is Zacks Performance Rankings, a proprietary ranking system that predicts which stocks will outperform or underperform the market over the next three to six months.
This first-of-its-kind service for individual investors was developed by Chicago-based Zacks, a leading supplier of investment information services well-known among professional investors for providing "consensus" earnings estimates.
"Revisions in analysts' earnings estimates are the single most important factor driving any stock's price," said Ben Zacks, executive vice president at Zacks. "For the last 15 years, professional investors have depended on Zacks for this vital information. Now, the individual investor can, too.
"Beyond the individual investor, Analyst Watch promises to be valuable for stockbrokers, financial planners, financial media and other professionals who monitor stocks and want to incorporate the estimates and recommendations of ALL analysts in their decision-making process," Zacks added.
Analyst Watch gives subscribers access to this timely information via Zacks' 24-hour investor hot line in addition to bi-weekly and monthly reports:
The monthly report is a 180-page book that lists 4,000 stocks alphabetically with 50 key investment variables for each. It includes 23 company and industry screens highlighting recent revisions in analysts' earnings estimates, brokerage recommendations, latest earnings surprises and changes in relative price. It also offers investors the powerful Zacks Performance Rankings and a model portfolio of recommended stocks.
The bi-weekly Analyst Watch service is updated with a 40-page booklet that highlights earnings estimate revisions and stock recommendation changes made during the past two weeks. The bi-weekly update includes all sections and features of the monthly edition except for the alphabetical company listing.
Daily, the Zacks Investor Telephone Hot Line provides subscribers with the latest estimate and brokerage recommendation changes, as well as earnings surprises as companies report earnings throughout the day, for each of the 4,000 stocks listed in Analyst Watch.
The Zacks Performance Rankings are based on a proprietary methodology developed by company President Leonard Zacks, Ph.D., MIT. Institutional investors have relied on these rankings for the last 15 years.
While Analyst Watch is a new service, the methodology Zacks uses to rank stocks has a proven track record. For the 13-year period from January 1980 through September 1993, Zacks' portfolio of its 150 top- ranked stocks has shown an average gain of 35.2 percent/year, compared to the S&P 500 average gain of 15.2 percent/year. "An initial $10,000 investment in 1980 in Zacks top-ranked portfolio would be worth more than $500,000 today," said Ben Zacks.
To show just how effective Analyst Watch can be, a handful of individual investors from across the country will be asked to track their investment decisions using Analyst Watch and report their earnings. Results of the group will be announced during the first quarter of 1994.
Analyst Watch may be purchased for a two-year subscription price of $398 for 48 issues (24 monthly and bi-weekly issues); or a one-year price of $249 for 24 issues (12 monthly and bi-weekly issues). For more information about ordering Analyst Watch, call 800-399-6659.
