Yuengling cans its "Black & Tan" brew.

Pottsville, PA's D.G. Yuengling & Sons, Inc., "America's Oldest Brewery," reported it now packages its "Black & Tan" in 16-oz. cans.

"We developed the first Black & Tan on draught after customers' repeated requests to mix Yuengling's Porter and Premium beers together," explained Yuengling president Dick Yuengling. "Thus, Black & Tan was born."

"For approximately four years," Yuengling went on, "it has been available exclusively on draught, therefore limiting our market availability."

Yuengling director of sales and marketing David Casinelli added, "Increased demand by wholesalers and consumers alike led to the introduction of Yuengling Black & Tan in 16-oz. cans. We are experiencing very positive growth within this new market segment and plans for additional packages are being considered."

The brand's packaging and point-of-sale materials have been created by New York City-based D'Addario Design Associates, Casinelli added.

"We're excited to be involved with the introduction of Black & Tan as a packaged product," reported Adam D'Addario, vice president of the agency. "Yuengling Brewery recognizes that a brand's packaging is a cornerstone in the marketing scenario. We're confident they will have another success story to tell."
