Geoff King, 58, a retired Corus worker from Nunthorpe, said: "Just middle of the road modern pop music. I'm an ex Jimmy Hendrix and Cream fan and occasionally still listen to them when I want to impress the kids."

Estelle King, a 57-year-old retired library worker from Nunthorpe, said: "Anything really. I like brass bands very much and I've come to watch my friend play in Bilsdale Silver Band today."

Gordon Harker, a 50-year-old carer from Middlesbrough, said: "I like all sorts of music including brass, and normally go to Durham Gala."

Heather Patrick, 34, an optometrist from Yarm, said: "Typically, it would be pop music, but I know one of the Bilsdale Silver Band members playing at the park and have been meaning to come and see her play for a while." s

Susan Walton, 49, a housewife from Pallister Park, said: "I like pop music, Diana Ross and all the old soul bands. I love brass bands as well and it's nice to see them come back into the parks."

Mike Walton, 48, unemployed from Middlesbrough, said: "My favourite type of music is rock'n'roll -Elvis and The Beatles -but I do like to listen to all kinds of music."
