Your own Balmoral; LIVE LIKE ROYALTY FOR pounds 1m.

A MINI version of the Queen's Balmoral retreat has been put up for sale.

For pounds 1million, you could live like royalty in Dalnaglar Castle, a home built by Queen Victoria's banker Danny Robertson because he was so impressed by the original.

John Coleman, of selling agents Knight Frank, said: "It's the sort of property which is really catching the imagination because of the romance of it.

"It looks like a mini Balmoral.

"We've already sent out particulars to 200 people around the world.

"I'm also told that it is almost identical to a Bavarian castle so we have a lot of German interest as well."

Little Balmoral, near Blairgowrie, Perthshire, is set in 66 acres.

It was restored by its current owner Margaret Burke and her late architect husband Ian, who bought the house in 1959.

Mrs Burke, who now finds the house is too big for her, said: "I will miss the house, it has a very good atmosphere.

"People expect to come into a large building like this and find it quite cold but Dalnaglar is very congenial.

"It is a good place to have parties, and there have been quite a few here over the years.

"My husband and I married 10 years after he bought Dalnaglar.

"It had been fairly neglected when he moved in, not having been lived in for years except its use during the war."
