Top Hat Tyne Theatre Top Hat, being brought to the stage by West End Operatic Society, brings the glamour of Hollywood's golden age and the glorious tap-dancing magic of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers to the stage in one of the greatest dance musicals of all time. Packed full of Irving Berlin's greatest hits including Cheek to Cheek, Top Hat, White Tie & Tails, Let's Face the Music & Dance and Puttin' on the Ritz, Top Hat tells the story of Broadway sensation Jerry Travers who dances his way across Europe to win the heart of society girl Dale Tremont. Runs until tomorrow.

Alien Ant Farm O2 Academy Cast your minds back to 2001 when long before The X Factor, Popstars was the TV talent show of choice, its winners Hear'say broke records with their debut single and album and the late and great Sir Bobby Robson was in charge at St James'.

But back to the music charts and a little known American rock band landed a huge UK hit with a Michael Jackson classic.

The band in question are Alien Ant Farm and the song? Smooth Criminal of course. Years after MJ first asked 'Annie are you OK?', the band took the song to number 3 in the UK and number 1 in countries across the globe. And they're back on the road and in Newcastle tomorrow night.

The Friday Show The Stand There's no better way to end the working week than with some laughs. Comperes, seasoned headliners and roster of up and coming home grown comedians combine in the two hour live show. There's five acts on every bill including the very best comics from the UK and beyond. Confirmed for tonight are Pete Johansson, John Whale, Harriet Dyer, Omar Abid and host Scott Gibson.

Franz Ferdinand O2 Academy Back with a new album this year, indie icons Franz Ferdinand are heading out on a huge UK tour to celebrate its release. Join the Scottish rockers tonight as they showcase their new material as well as performing much of their loved back catalogue.

Hedda Gabler Theatre Royal Hedda and Tesman have just returned from their honeymoon and the relationship is already in trouble. Trapped but determined, Hedda tries to control and manipulate those around her, only to see her own world unravel. The modern production of Ibsen's thrilling masterpiece is brought to bold new life by Olivier Award-winning playwright Patrick Marber (Closer) and directed by Olivier and Tony Award(r)-winner Ivo van Hove (A View from the Bridge).
