Your letters: Cop that.

Byline: R. Lee

THE relentless crime wave sweeping Merseyside is appalling. Last year Merseyside Police made a statement to bring the level of crime down, guess what - crime is up to record levels.

Top cops have been brought in to no avail and achieved nothing yet they still get paid.

The police should be made accountable for their lack of performance and have their pay cut accordingly until all crime is cut by at least 50 per-cent to the levels of not so long ago.

Don't bet on Bettison - he has done no more than all the other inefficient Chief Constables of Merseyside.

We need less crime not more. Bring back law and order.
