I WOULD like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has so generously spent time designing and making unique cards in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care this year.

Each year Marie Curie Cancer Care runs the Create a Card for Cancer Care campaign in partnership with docrafts, the website and magazine for crafters.

We call upon our supporters to create one-off cards which are then sold in Marie Curie Cancer Care Shops across the UK for

Two across the Tyne

FOR a short while in the 1960s there were two Scotswood Bridges standing side by side over the Tyne in Newcastle.

In this April 1967 shot, you can see what remained of the original stone chain bridge, from which the roadway had been removed, to the right of the modern bridge that still stands today.

The image shows there was clearly still much work to do on the road layout leading up to the new bridge.
