Your Life: Dear Miriam - She's a fool in love; ADVICE.

Dear Miriam,

My sister is 48, divorced and a mother of four. She has met someone half her age and the family feel she's heading for disaster. He's immature, has had a string of dead-end jobs and lived with his mum before he met my sister. We think he's swapped one mum for another. He stays out all hours with mates but she won't hear a word against him. What can we do?

Dear Alexa,

This is her life and you could really mess up your relationship with her by trying to put her off him. If she doesn't mind his staying out late or his laid-back attitude towards work, that's her privilege.

Allow her to figure out what's what in her own time. Being fully supportive frees her from the burden of defending her relationship and gives her space to start thinking about the relationship herself.
