Your Life: Dear Miriam - Love rat's up to his old tricks; ADVICE.

Byline: DR. MIRIAM STOPPARD

Dear Miriam,

My boyfriend's married and is supposed to be getting a divorce. His wife knows about me and she's been causing trouble. She wants to keep their house and have an equal share in his garage business. He says he won't give her a penny.

It's stressful for me and made worse because he's been spotted with his arms around another woman. He tried to convince me she was an old friend and then said their date was a one-off.

We're still together because I love him but can he be trusted?

Polly

Dear Polly,

This is a fatal attraction likely to leave your self-esteem in tatters. He's an adulterer, a liar to his wife and you, and a miser. It's bad enough he withdrew from her emotionally but now he wants to cheat her out of a fair share. I hope she's hired a top solicitor who can hit him where it hurts, in his pocket. He may have bowled you over with his charm but is he really worth loving?

If he's losing interest in you, you shouldn't really be surprised. He doesn't understand the concept of commitment.

Write to his wife and apologise for your part in the break-up of the marriage and then get a life of your own.
