WEOLEY CASTLE OVER 50s will receive pounds 1,000 to cover activity costs and purchase audio equipment. Members of the group recently enjoyed a weekend away at Weston Super Mare and a visit to the Trentham Gardens last year. They are looking for new male members.

YORKSWOOD RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION is planning to hold a celebration event to pull the local estate and surrounding neighbourhoods together. The group, which covers the Yorkswood estate in Shard End, has an active following which meets every two months at the Horne Way Community Lounge. It was awarded pounds 885 for the celebration.

THE VALLEY RIVERSIDE PROJECT is set to create a wet area after receiving a pounds 1,000 grant. Members of the group perform regular clean-ups in Billesley.

THE HEARTLANDS LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY meets at the Nechells Green Community Centre and will receive pounds 789 to purchase and fit new blinds. Talks are given at the group by invited speakers and members also go on outings to various places of interest.

CATHOUSE THEATRE COMPANY has been given pounds 1,000 to fund a trip to the Birmingham Rep. Recently, the group has been working alongside Age Concern in two day centres across Birmingham. Its 'Age 2 Age' project focuses on showcasing the stories and memories of Birmingham's older adults using creative means such as drama, poetry and music.
