Your 2004-05 Board of Trustees.

Anaheim, California, was the host for ADAA's Annual Conference in 2004 where the new Board of Trustees was seated in July.

Inaugurated as President for 2004-2005 was Kristy S. Borquez, CDA, RDAEF, FADAA, of Granada Hills, CA. Ms. Borquez was one of the first Fellows of the ADAA and she is also a Certified Dental Assistant and a Registered Dental Assistant for Extended Functions. She is a clinical coordinator in the Northridge (CA) Dental Group practice with Stephen M. Goldberg, DDS.

A member of the San Fernando Valley Dental Assistants Society and the California Dental Assistants Association, Ms. Borquez has been president of both of those groups. She holds several certificates and licenses in the dental assisting profession and is currently an examiner for the Registered Dental Assistant in Extended Functions exam. She is also with Dental Professionals of California as an instructor for RDA review classes and California Dental Law. Until 2003, she served the ADAA as Twelfth District Trustee.

President Elect is Debra L. Von Alman, CDA, RDA, Richfield, MN. She is both a Certified Dental Assistant and Registered Dental Assistant and has long been active with the American Dental Assistants Association on the local, state and national level.

Ms. Von Alman has held several offices in both the local and national ADAA organizations, having been President of the Minnesota Dental Assistants Association and serving nationally on the finance and membership committees and as Vice President. Until 2003, she was ADAA Seventh District Trustee. She is a graduate of Hibbing Technical College Dental Assisting Program and has been an assistant for over 20 years working both clinically and administratively. Currently she is Office Manager for Park Dental, where she has been employed for 15 years.

Elected Vice President is Kimberly G. Bland, CDA, EFDA, EFOA, Bradenton, FL. Ms. Bland is both a Certified Dental Assistant and an Expanded Function Dental Assistant and has served as ADAA's Fifth District Trustee and as Chairman of the Council on Governance. She has held several offices in both the local and national ADAA organizations, having been President of the Florida Dental Assistants Association for three terms and serving nationally on the bylaws, awards, nominations and annual conference committees and as national Secretary. She is Past President of the Sara-Mana Dental Assistants Society.

A member of the Board of Directors of the Health Occupation Students of America, Ms. Bland is also Vice President of the Florida Allied Dental Educators.

A recent graduate of the University of South Florida, she majored in industrial technical education. Previously, she earned her Dental Assisting Certificate at Manatee Technical Institute where she is now dental assisting program instructor.

National Secretary for 2004-05 is Lori Barnhart, CDA, RDA, Lennon, MI. Ms. Barnhart is a member of the Michigan DAA and the Genesee Dental Assistants Association and has held numerous offices in both organizations. She has served as Sixth District Trustee for ADAA as well as having chaired the Member Services Council on a national level. Ms. Barnhart was educated at Mott Community College and the University of Michigan and was Chairperson of the Dental Hygiene/Dental Assisting Advisory Board at Mott.

District Trustees

Election results, appointments and incumbent trustees helped to make up the new Board of Trustees as follows:

First District: Virgina Cairrao, CDA, Bristol, RI, appointed to a three-year term expiring 2007.

Second District: Sarah L. Gresko, CDA, RDA, Lincoln Park, NJ, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2005.

Third District: Barbara A. Hickey, COA, CODA, Munroe Falls, OH, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2005.

Fourth District: Bettie S. Rogers, CDA, Hodges, SC, re-elected to a term expiring 2007.

Fifth District: Susan M. Rexroat, CDA, CDPMA, Winter Haven, FL, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2006.

Sixth District: Angela M. Swatts, CDA, EFDA, Indianapolis, IN, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2005.

Seventh District: Natalie Kaweckyj, CDA, RDA, CDPMA, COA, COMSA, MADAA, Minneapolis, MN, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2006.

Eighth District: Shelley B. Douglas, Prairie Village, KS, re-elected to a term expiring 2007.

Ninth District: Marthann Dafft, Dallas, TX, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2005.

Tenth District: Bonnie L. Marshall, CDA, EFDA, EFODA, FADAA, Battle Ground, WA, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2006.

Eleventh District: Rosana Rodriguez, CDA, CDPMA, Peoria, AZ, appointed to a three-year term expiring 2007.

Twelfth District: Claudia G. Pohl, CDA, RDA, BVEd, Alta Loma, CA, continues as trustee. Term expiring 2006.

Military District: Sgt/Major Stephen E. Spadaro, Fort Sam Houston, TX, continues as trustee.
