Youngsters serve up a Cardiff treat; TENNIS.

PLAYERS from Cardiff, Swansea and Newport took the honours at the annual South Wales tennis championships. More than 100 players took part in 140 matches over four days at Cardiff Metropolitan University and David Lloyd, Cardiff.

"The tournament was played in great spirit," said Paul Pritchard, of Black Dog Tennis, who organised the event. "It's a good excuse to get out of the house during the holiday period and run off some of that Christmas dinner!" Results: 8U Mixed: Winner, Iris Plane (David Lloyd Cardiff ); runner-up, Michael Strong (Diamond Tennis Academy Cardiff). 9U Boys: Winner, Jethro Dela Vega (Swansea Tennis Centre); runnerup, Rufus Plane (David Lloyd Cardiff ).

9U Girls: Winner, Laila Mai Savage (Swansea Tennis Centre); runnerup, Sofia Chivers (David Lloyd Cardiff ).

10U Boys: Winner, Kasim Ali (XL Tennis Academy, Cardiff ); runner-up, William Phillips (David Lloyd Cardiff ).

10U Girls: Winner, Georgia Davies (Swansea Tennis Centre); runnerup, Alina Ali (XL Tennis Academy Cardiff ). 12U Boys: Winner, Harri Lloyd-Evans (Stow Park LTC, Newport); runner-up, Ceri Griffiths (David Lloyd Cardiff ).

12U Girls: Winner, Molly Walsh (Allt-yr-yn LTC, Newport); runner-up, Eleri Rowlands (Llanelli LTC).

14U Boys: Winner, Odran Hobbs (Allt-yr-yn LTC, Newport); runner-up, Ieuan Alderson (David Lloyd Cardiff ).

16U Boys: Winner, Tiarnan Brady (Cardiff LTC); runner-up Aeron Evans (Cardiff LTC).
