Young artists' date for designs.

Budding young North East artists are invited to show off their talents in a national calendar design competition.

Phonak, the UK-based hearing instrument manufacturer, is looking for design entries from young people aged between five and 16 with hearing difficulties based on the theme "what I want to be when I grow up".

Last year's competition attracted more than 500 North East entires, and the 12 winners, who also received pounds 50 worth of vouchers of their choice, got to see their designs published in the company's official calendar.

The closing date for entries is September 30. They can be either drawings or paintings but must be no larger than A3 and accompanied by an official entry form. Send entries to Phonak UK, Cygnet Court, Lakeside, Warrington, Cheshire, WA1 1PP marked 'Calendar Competition'. For an entry form ring 0800 9800747.
