Young Boys return to form as they double-up on Basel.

AFTER suffering a 4-1 mauling to Everton in the Europa League last Thursday evening, Young Boys hit back yesterday to close to within five points of Super League leaders Basel by beating the Champions League contenders 4-2 at the Stade de Suisse.

Young Boys were able to build a three-goal lead through Alexander Gerndt (10 and 27 minutes) and Milan Gajic (60).

Shkelzen Gashi (71) and Marco Streller (90) led Basel's fightback but Guillaume Hoarau confirmed the hosts' victory with a stoppage-time strike.

Improving Lucerne pulled off an unlikely 4-0 win over Aarau to climb out of the relegation berth.

Remo Freuler got the ball rolling with a penalty in the 38th penalty and Dario Lezcano (69) doubled the advantage before Marco Schneuwly's late brace (72 and 77) put the game to bed.

Aarau slip beneath Lucerne and into ninth place while FC Sion are the new basement boys. Elsewhere, Berat Sadik (77) forced a 1-1 draw for FC Thun at FC Vaduz.
