Mobile voice-mail specialist YouMail Inc on Friday announced the general release of an Open API for developers which will allow them to embed voice-to-text transcriptions and other message handling services from YouMail's enterprise-class mobile voice-mail platform into their new applications.

The company said that the API will allow developers to create YouMail accounts that provide visual voice-mail services and personalised greetings for unanswered phone calls, together with the ability to invoke voice-to-text transcription services with routing via email or mobile texting, drop box services hat reroute voice messages from general in-boxes to individuals or groups and manage the storage, accessibility, retention and compliance of messages long term.

YouMail said that using the API developers will be able to deliver voice-mail based services to their customers that increase revenue, usage and customer loyalty.
