You've got to hand it to him...

By JIM CLARKE AN Irish card player known as the Unabomber will attempt to set a world record for the longest continual poker game this week.

Phil Laak, who was born in Dublin, intends to play the game non-stop for more than THREE DAYS to beat the current record of 78 hours.

Laak, 37, is known on the poker scene as the Unabomber because he wears hooded tops and dark sunglasses while gambling, similar to the infamous US terrorist.

He is dating Hollywood actress Jennifer Tilly, who is also a poker pro.

But now Laak is chasing a new title - that of poker endurance champion.

The big-hearted Dubliner, who is training at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas this week, has already vowed to hand over half of his winnings to Camp Sunshine, a US charity that provides holidays for dying children.

Title bid... Phil Laak
