What was her last chart hit? Her last big recording before she went on to become Queen of light entertainment with TV shows like Blind Date and Surprise! Surprise!, was Something Tells Me (Something Is Gonna Happen Tonight) in 1973, which peaked at number three.
What is Cilla's musical legacy? Cilla had 20 consecutive Top 40 hits in the UK single and EP charts during her music career, including 11 British Top 10 singles and two consecutive Number One singles in 1964. She called her 2003 autobiography What's It All About? Cilla |had 11 top ten singles Who stepped up? When did her music career start? She was working with Beatles' manager Brian Epstein - his only female client - when she made her of-ficial debut in the UK singles chart in 1963 with Love Of The Loved, written for her by Beatles songwriting duo John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Paul McCartney wrote Step Inside Love in 1968 as the theme song for her first TV show. The song was once again produced by George Martin and released on the Beatles Parlophone label. The B-side of the record was a song called I Couldn't Take My Eyes Off You. McCartney has said Step Inside Love is his favourite song written for another singer.

Have I heard that before? The Beatles recorded their own version of Love Of The Loved for their audition for Decca Records in 1962. Decca turned them down. The Beatles also wrote the aptly titled It's For You in 1964 for the former Cavern Club coat room girl.
Once more with feeling? Sandie Shaw turned down the chance to record Alfie and Burt Bacharach came over from America to supervise the arrangement and conduct the orchestra for Cilla. He also played piano on the track and insisted on 18 takes in the Abbey Road recording studio to get the perfect performance.
With Beatle | Paul McCartney |Both What's is all about? ALFIE was the theme song of the 1966 Michael Caine film of the same name about a charming rogue with an eye for the ladies. The Oscar-nominated track by Burt Bacharach and Hal David was sung over the end credits of the UK release by Cilla.
What was her breakthrough single? Her version of Anyone Who Had A Heart, first recorded by American singer Dionne Warwick, topped the Official Singles Chart back in 1964 and spent three weeks at number one. The Burt Bacharach and Hal David composition went on to become the UK's biggest selling single by a female artist of the 1960s.
