Time to call in 007? Goldfinger was the third big screen outing for the Bond franchise and was based on writer Ian Fleming's 1959 novel.
What happened to the baddie? German actor Gert Frobe, who played Gold-finger, also appeared as Baron Bomburst in the 1968 movie version of Ian Fleming's story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Who missed the London premiere? Honor was the star attraction at the premiere at the Odeon Theatre in Leicester Square, but Sean Connery could not attend because he was busy filming The Hill.
Did Ian Fleming approve? James Bond creator Ian Fleming visited Pinewood's D stage during filming in April 1964, but died at the age of 56 on August 12 before the cinema release of Goldfinger.
Wasn't she an Avenger as well? She had been playing Cathy Gale in TV's action adventure series The Avengers before Goldfinger and John Steed received a Christmas card from Gale in a later episode postmarked Fort Knox.
Who was a match for 007? Honor Blackman was 37 when she played Pussy Galore - the oldest ever Bond girl.
What's Bond's handicap? British spy 007 has a golf handicap of nine ... the same as his creator Ian Fleming.
Watch out for the bunkers! The film's memorable golf game was filmed at Stoke Park golf course, near Stoke Poges, in Buckinghamshire.
Who needs a passport? Sean Connery filmed most of the movie's American scenes at Pinewood Studios in England. Fort Knox was recreated at the Black Park Country Park and Burnham Beeches in Buckinghamshire.
Did the movie have a licence to thrill? It became the fastest grossing picture in film history when it was released and was a hit with fans who lapped up the tale of Goldfinger's dastardly plan to become the richest man in the world.
