The body of a newborn baby was found by garbage collectors at Al Sajjah landfill in Sharjah on Sunday morning. The police said the body was found wrapped in a piece of cloth.
A forensic team has gathered fingerprints and other forensic evidence. The body has been transferred to the forensic department for an autopsy.
Not an isolated incident
This is not an isolated incident. In fact, a newborn baby was found dead in the same landfill just two months ago. Many other babies were found dead or abandoned in other areas of Sharjah.
On October 12, a month-old baby girl was found abandoned on the doorstep of a villa in Al Rahmaniyah district. On September 27, a three-month-old baby girl was abandoned in a pram in the women's waiting area of Al Kuwaiti Hospital. On September 21, a baby was abandoned in a parking lot in Al Majaz.
