Yesterday 's highlights There may have been only two meetings across Britain and Ireland yesterday, but a few in-running backers and layers will have been left wishing all the cards had been snowed off.

Navan's Grade 2 Tara Hurdle featured a sprint finish after a pedestrian early pace failed to stretch out the field and winner Rigour Back Bob was matched at odds of 820 on Betfair, although in the end he ran out a fairly comfortable winner.

Alpine Glade looked almost certain to win going to the last but he has often failed to deliver after travelling well (has been beaten at in-running odds of 1.11 and 1.14), something punters must have remembered as he never got shorter than 1.22 this time.

No-one seemed to remember Silaah's tendency to do the same at Southwell (2.05) though. He added a 1.02 defeat to six other odds-on in-running losses, his previous 'best' being 1.05.
