Yesterday's highlights.

An entertaining opener at Wincanton saw Wise Hawk stretch his record to 0-18 after coming closer than he ever has to winning over hurdles.

The Hawk Wing gelding would have done his dad proud with the way he travelled but despite looking the strongest of the three contenders when jumping the final flight with a narrow lead, he was unsurprisingly worried out of it by six-time winner Swift Chap (matched at a high of 30).

Punters must be getting wise to the Hawk, as he looked a candidate for a lower in-running trade than 1.5, and it would be no surprise if he was tried in headgear next time.
