The president of Yemen has named a new central bank governor.

Yemeni president, Abdrabu Mansur Hadi, has appointed former finance minister, Mohammed Zammam, as head of the central bank. The appointment comes as a prolonged civil war has taken a toll on the value of the currency as well as the nation's economy.

In January, Saudi Arabia, ordered a deposit of USD2bn into Yemen's central bank to prop up the weak currency and help alleviate the people's suffering.
