Yanks for the memory, Arj.

American comedian Arj Barker says he's only trying his act out to see if it works. It does.

At a time when the Fringe comedy scene is taking a fair bit of stick, Arj's act is a refreshing change.

Like Billy Connolly has a go at Scots, this Yank gets stuck into his own countrymen.

He lambasts the Americans and understands the way other nations slag off dear old Uncle Sam.

The act is clean and deadpan. Arj has funny lines on everything from women to beer.

His debut was impressive. He's genuinely funny and he deserves to be a household name. See him at the Pleasance until August 30. Tickets: pounds 6.50, pounds 5.50. Box Office, tel: 0131- 556 6550.
