Yamane Prebon moves into energy-related brokerage business.

TOKYO, July 9 Kyodo

Money broker Yamane Prebon Ltd. said Monday it has made a foray into the energy-related brokerage business in cooperation with two of its investors, Central Tanshi Co. and Prebon Group Ltd. of Britain.

Beginning this month, the Tokyo-based broker will use its financial technology to provide products to hedge against risks related to energy products such as oil and electricity.

Yamane Prebon plans to provide derivatives to existing electric power companies as well as companies entering the energy business.

Central Tanshi is Japan's largest money broker and was formed in April through a merger of three financial brokerage firms, Nagoya Tanshi Co., Yamane Tanshi Co. and Nihon Tanshi Co.

Prebon Group is the world's leading brokerage firm, providing services in a full range of foreign exchange and money market instruments, as well as derivative and energy products.
