Yahoo net profit more than doubles in July-September qtr.

NEW YORK, Oct. 19 Kyodo

Yahoo Inc. said Tuesday its net profit in the July-September quarter soared 113 percent from a year earlier to $396 million, mainly on gains from the sale of a job search engine.

Its revenues increased 2 percent to $1.60 billion for the reporting quarter, with those from display advertising growing 17 percent to $465 million, the Sunnyvale, California-based Internet giant said.

Revenues from search advertising, however, declined 7 percent, it said.

Regarding the integration of its online search business with that of Microsoft Corp., Yahoo said it is in the process of transitioning from its search marketing platform to Microsoft's search advertising platform and expects the transition to be completed by the end of October.
