Patna: Former Bihar health minister Tej Pratap Yadav had a miraculous escape after the dais from where he was scheduled to address a meeting suddenly caved in. All the leaders sitting on the overcrowded dais, including Yadav himself, fell on the ground.

The incident took place at Athmalgola block of Patna district on Monday afternoon. Reports said Yadav at that time was sitting on the stage and making the crowd hear the recorded message of his mother Rabri Devi when it suddenly caved in bringing all the leaders down.

However, Yadav suffered no injuries and is safe. The incident took place just before he was to address the crowd who had gathered in large numbers. The function had been organised on the occasion of Basant Panchami, a Hindu festival organised mainly by students to offer prayers to Saraswati, the deity of learning.

Subsequently, Yadav addressed the crowd from a temporary dais, reports said. Yadav, who is elder son of the jailed Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was only last week acquitted in a case relating to the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan.

Similar incident had happened with Lalu last year when the dais made for a function in the Digha locality of Patna caved in under the weight of his supporters. He suffered series injuries in his waist and other parts of his body after which he was admitted to a government hospital. Lalu had gone to participate in a yajna (a Hindu ritual) when the incident took place.
