Yacht in rocks alert.

Rescuers went to the aid of a yacht aground on rocks off Holy Island.

Seahouses inshore and offshore RNLI lifeboats were sent to help the yacht Fair Winds in response to a call from the lone sailor on board.

Fair Winds, which had been moored at Holy Island, struck rocks at Castle Point and called Humber Coastguard for help on Sunday night.

The crewman reported the yacht was not taking in water and the anchor had been dropped.

The Fair Winds hit the rock an hour before high tide and, when the lifeboats were about half way there, she floated free and headed back for Holy Island.

The all-weather lifeboat returned to Seahouses while the inshore lifeboat, which was very close by that time, carried on to ensure no further help was needed.
