Yacht club commodore; NEWSBRIEF.

FORMER Barry Boys' Comprehensive School pupil Howard Metcalfe, pictured, has been elected the new commodore of the town's yacht club.

Howard, 51, takes up the post of senior officer at Barry Yacht Club where he has been a member since 1974, when he joined as a cadet.

Howard, who lives on Barry Island and is managing director of Manchester-based National Industrial Fuel Efficiency Service, said: "We are aiming to welcome more new members, both for sailing and also social members."
