YPF SOCIEDAD ANONIMA ANNOUNCES ANTITRUST INVESTIGATION

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- YPF Sociedad Anonima (NYSE: YPF) announced today that Argentina's National Commission for the Defense of Competition has initiated an antitrust investigation of YPF, Shell and ESSO regarding gasoline pricing.
YPF has 15 days to respond to the commission's charges, which appear to relate to the movement of pump prices in September 1993. YPF added that it categorically denies violating Argentina's antitrust laws and that it will defend itself vigorously, if that should become necessary, against any charges to the contrary.
