YPF S.A. ANNOUNCES YEAR-END 1995 PETROLEUM RESERVES

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- 1996 YPF Sociedad Anonima (NYSE: YPF) today announced that during 1995, it replaced 134% of its consolidated and combined oil and gas production. The company replaced 162% of its oil production and 74% of its 1995 natural gas production. Maxus was included from April 1995, when it was acquired by YPF.

President and Chief Executive Officer Nells Leon said:

"Our reserve replacement ratio demonstrates the ongoing success of our exploration and development program in Argentina. For the third successive year, we have bettered our goal of replacing at least 100% of production (excluding sales). We will strive to continue our excellent performance in replacing reserves."

YPF's proved developed and undeveloped reserves of crude oil, condensate and natural gas liquids in Argentina were 1,149 million barrels at December 31, 1995 compared to 1,045 million barrels at December 31, 1994. Proved developed and undeveloped reserves of natural gas were 8,358 billion cubic feet at December 31, 1995 compared to 8,524 billion cubic feet at December 31, 1994.

Including the reserves of Maxus Energy Corporation, worldwide YPF S.A. proved developed and undeveloped reserves at December 31, 1995 were 1,358 million barrels of crude oil, condensate and natural gas liquids and 9,241 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
