YOUR VIEW: Political mess.
BRITISH politics has indeed become bland with no significant difference between the major parties (Letters, July 31 and August 7).
We can be thankful, however, that ``the bunch that has control of our cash'' are free from the policies Laurence Keen seems to miss.
Who can forget British Leyland, British Steel, British shipbuilders, the coal mines and the public utilities which were all poorly run, over-manned and uneconomic? Add to this militant unions, and little wonder the country was on the brink of disaster.
Good riddance to the old Labour policies so favoured by Mr Keen.
However, with various minority pressure groups dictating the policies of all three political parties - sometimes in defiance of the wishes of the majority - democracy is no longer well served. It will take a latter-day Oliver Cromwell to cut through the mess created.
