YOUR LIFE: TAKE SIX: ...Liquid eyeliners; THE PAGE WHERE YOU PUT EVERYDAY ITEMS TO THE TEST.

Clarins Eye Liner - pounds 16.50

ALTHOUGH a little expensive for my liking, this eyeliner is a work of wonder!

The eyeliner itself is stylishly red and gold and streamlined enough to slip inside any small party bag.

It glides on with a tiny brush and leaves a neat and luminous black line.

Verdict: The result was a whole night of no smudging or fading and eyelashes that looked twice as big. Liquid eyeliners can be difficult to use and due to this I've never really gone near them, but this one has changed my mind, it's easy and quick to apply.

Make sure you remove it before going to bed otherwise you could get a shock in the morning.

Score: 9/10 Cally Spinks, 25, Priory Place, Coventry.

Lancome Artliner - pounds 18.50.

THIS eyeliner comes in an attractive silver box, however the packaging does not live up to the expensive price tag. It promises to create an intense and precise line, which is exceptionally long lasting.

The gentle felt applicator is quite difficult to use and I found I applied too much or too little.

Verdict: The best thing about this product is it actually does stay on all day, leaving your eyes with that fresh, just-applied look.

This would probably be best for evening use as it tends to go on quite heavily, although at this price it is probably not something I would go out of my way to purchase.

Score: 6/10 Deanna Mooney, 25, Poets Corner, Stoke.

Bourjois Liner Pincceau - pounds 5.95.

THIS product is packaged in a pen-like container and fits perfectly into your handbag. The thin brush enables a smooth and precise application, and the deep black colour remains strong and lasts all day. It is easily removed with make-up remover which meant no "panda eyes" in the morning!

Verdict: This product didn't smudge at all and overall it looked great. For those of you who don't have a steady hand however, it may take a bit of practice getting a straight line, as I have learnt myself.

Score: 9/10 Eileen Pearce, Finham, Coventry, age 50.

Rimmel Professional liquid eyeliner - pounds 3.99.

I'M not a fan of liquid eyeliner but this product soon changed my mind. It was really easy to use after I got the hang of it.

It stayed on all day and looked as good as when I first applied it, and it didn't smudge at all, which I was quite surprised about.

Verdict: Overall this is the best liquid eyeliner I have used so far and would definitely recommend it.

Score: 8/10 Sumandeep Virk, Whitmore Park, Coventry, age 22.

L'Oreal Superliner - pounds 5.99.

I DON'T usually use liquid eyeliner, as I prefer the pencils. This particular eyeliner painted on well but left quite a thick line on my eyelid.

The bottle itself was long, thin and silver with an extra long wand with only a small, wide brush on the end designed for precise application.

Verdict: When using this wand applicator I did feel that there was too much liquid on it and it began to have a "blobbing" effect.

Once dry it was okay, although the line I'd drawn was far from straight which is more my fault than the eyeliner! Tip: it takes a lot of practice.

Score: 6/10 Emma Allen, Whitley, aged 27.

Clinique Eye Defining Liquid Liner - pounds 11.

I WAS quite excited to try this Clinique eyeliner as I've always been a big fan of their products, and it lived up to my expectations.

It had lovely packaging with a sophisticated wand and would look good in any make-up bag.

The shade was a lovely brown colour which went on so easily with no dragging on my skin. I did have to do it more than once to get it right though, with it being such an artform to apply.

But it didn't take too long to get it right and it stayed on all day with no smudging and no fading.

Verdict: The overall effect was that it's a great product and I would use it on a regular basis now I've mastered the art of application.

Score: 8/10.
