Shall We Dance

(BBC 2 Northern Ireland, 2.15pm - 4pm)

Musical comedy, starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Ballet star Pete 'Petrov' Peters uses his connections to book his passage aboard the same ship as musical star Linda Keene, a dancer he has fallen in love with after seeing her photo, but by the time the ocean liner reaches New York, a white lie inspires a rumour that the celebrities are already secretly married 1937 ****

Nicholas and Alexandra

(RTE One, 2.20pm - 5.55pm)

Drama, with Michael Jayston and Janet Suzman. Tsar Nicholas weds the German princess Alexandra despite the marriage proving to be unpopular with the Russian people. Things are further complicated when Alexandra bears four daughters and when she finally bears a son, the infant's acute hemophilia can only be controlled by the fanatical Rasputin 1971 ****

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Channel 4, 5.10pm - 8pm)

Sci-fi action, starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel. Two years after young Sam Witwicky and his Autobot friends saved the Earth from the Decepticons, the teenager faces a new battle - college. Elsewhere, Optimus Prime and the others join forces with a secret military organisation as they try to make Earth their home, but when an ancient Decepticon known as The Fallen resurfaces to wreak havoc, Sam and his girlfriend, Mikaela, must investigate the history behind the Transformers' presence on Earth and find a way to defeat The Fallen once and for all 2009 ***

Octopussy (RTE Two, 6.10pm - 8.35pm)

Action, starring Roger Moore and Maud Adams. James Bond tries to solve the murder of Agent 009, who was killed on a mission in Germany, clutching a fake Faberge egg. The clues leads to India, where a woman operates a smuggling ring under the guise of a circus, before Bond learns of a plot to blow up a US Air Force base in west Germany 1983 ****

Dead Man Down (TV3, 9pm - 11.10pm)

Action, with Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace. Ambitious gangland player Victor infiltrates the criminal empire run by powerful crime lord Alphonse. But his real mission is to make Alphonse pay for destroying his once-happy life but his plots have not gone unnoticed and when his neighbour Beatrice uncovers his secret, she threatens to expose him unless he helps her complete her own campaign of vengeance 2013 ****

Angels & Demons (RTE One, 9.30pm - 12m't)

Thriller, starring Tom Hanks stars in Angels & Demons Hanks, Ewan McGregor and Ayelet Zurer. Eminent Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon investigates when a physicist is murdered and a mysterious symbol is seared into his chest. He later uncovers evidence of the rebirth of an ancient secret order known as the Illuminati.

Ryan Reynolds in The Change-Up Following the assassination of four cardinals, the scholar teams up with the daughter of the murdered physicist to search for a weapon stolen by the underground organisation that could kill millions 2009 ****

The Change-Up (Channel 4, 11pm - 1.10am)

Comedy, starring Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Wilde. Family man Dave Lockwood and suave ladies man Mitch Planko are long-time friends but each harbours a little jealousy of the other's seemingly ideal lifestyle. The duos identities are magically switched when they voice their envy during a freak storm, setting the scene for chaotic comedy as they struggle to cope with their new roles and responsibilities, before finding new appreciation for their lot in life 2011 ***

Kicks (BBC 2 Northern Ireland, 1am - 2.20am)

Drama, with Kerrie Hayes, Nichola Burley and Jamie Doyle. The lives of two young girls with virtually nothing in common collide over their shared fixation of a local football star. Estate girl Nicole and well-to-do WAG-wannabe Jasmine are thrilled when fate delivers their idol Lee into their young hands one night, but their fantasies fracture when they're faced with sordid reality 2008 ***
