YOUNG LEAVING AS VWoA'S PRESIDENT AND CEO

 AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today that its president and chief executive officer, William J. Young, is leaving the company to resume an automotive consulting practice in Los Angeles.
 Effective April 1, 1993, John Kerr, president of the North American Operations for Volkswagen AG, will assume additional responsibilities as VWoA's president and CEO.
 "Bill will be missed by employees and dealers in the United States," Kerr said. "All of us wish him the very best with his consulting business in Los Angeles."
 Young rejoined the company in February 1989 as vice president in charge of Volkswagen United States and was appointed president and CEO in March 1991.
 Young began his Volkswagen career in 1971 and left the company in 1983 to form the automotive consulting firm of W.J. Young and Associates in Los Angeles.
 Kerr was appointed president of North American Operations for Volkswagen AG in March 1991 with responsibility for subsidiary companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico. From April 1989 to March 1991, Kerr served as treasurer and vice president of Finance for Volkswagen of America.
