Kicking off the weekend of events is a Friday evening reception (7-9 p.m.) honoring Democratic National Committeeman and former Charlotte Mayor Harvey Gantt. The reception is being held at the home of Betty Chafin and Dennis Rash.
The Saturday agenda is highlighted by a luncheon featuring keynote speaker Tom Hendrickson, the newly elected Chairman of the N.C. Democratic Party. The 12:30-2 p.m. event is open to the public. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Contact Shawn Dent at 704-543-1189 for advance tickets.
Preceding the luncheon is a program by the N.C. Federation of College Democrats (9-10 a.m.), a forum of candidates running for YDNC offices (10-11 a.m.), and YDNC officer elections and resolutions debate (11-12:30 p.m.).
An auxiliary unit to the State Party, the YDNC is composed of young adults ranging in age from 18 to 36 years.
