YORK INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES KEY MANAGEMENT PROMOTIONS YORK, Pa., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- York International Corporation
(NYSE: YRK) announced today a series of promotions for key management positions within the company.
Effective Sept. 1, Scott J. Boxer will assume the position of vice- president and general manager for York's Residential Products Group and report directly to Howard I. Bull, president of York's Air Conditioning Systems Group. Most recently, Boxer had been the managing director of York International's operation in the United Kingdom. Within this
capacity, Boxer managed York Air Conditioning and Industrial Refrigeration Manufacturing, Sales and Service operations in the United Kingdom, Belgium,
Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, and various European distributors. Prior to that, Boxer had been operations manager for the
York manufacturing facility in York, and Plant Manager for York's former facility in Madisonville, Ky. Boxer replaces Richard Barnett who is leaving York to accept the position of president and chief executive officer of Tyler Pipe Industries in Tyler, Texas.
To fill the vacancy created by Boxer's appointment, York announced that Peter Spellar would assume the position of managing director for the company's U.K. operations. Most recently, Spellar had served as president of the Frick Company which is a major part of York's Refrigeration Products Group and a worldwide leader in rotary screw compressor technology. Spellar is widely respected throughout the refrigeration industry and has helped lead Frick through a period of rapid growth. Spellar first joined Frick in 1979 and has served the company capably in a variety of roles. In his new position, Spellar will report directly to Joseph B. Hunter, president of York's International Business Group. With Spellar's appointment, York announced the promotion of Jim Erdley to the position of vice-president and general manager of Frick. Erdley has been with York since 1978 and has served the organization capably in a number of key capacities. Since 1988, Erdley has been Frick's vice-president of Operations reporting directly to Spellar. In his new position, Erdley will report directly to Robert N. Pokelwaldt, York's president and chief executive officer. In announcing these appointments, Pokelwaldt, stated; "We are especially pleased to be in a position to draw upon some outstanding and dedicated performers to fill these important positions. Each of these individuals has demonstrated their talents in various positions that they have held within the organization.
