 YOKOGAWA SIGNS DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH PROTEON
 WESTBOROUGH, Mass., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Yokogawa Digital Computer Corporation (YDC) and Proteon, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTON) today announced that YDC will become the exclusive distributor of Proteon's bridging routers to the Japanese market. The contract further strengthens the longstanding relationship between the two companies. YDC provides Proteon's internetworking products to users such as NISSAN Motor Co., LTD., AMADA METRECS CO., LTD., Sharp Corporation and Lion Corporation.
 Under the agreement, YDC will provide Proteon's p4100-plus, p4200 and RISC-based CNX 500 internetworking solutions and support services to major distributors and resellers throughout Japan, including Rikei and JRI, as well as to end-users.
 According to Jiro Sajiki, vice president of YDC's Network System Division, "The demand for innovative, high performance internetworking solutions in Japan has increased dramatically over the last 24 months and will continue to grow at an aggressive pace. Proteon's technology leadership, high performance FDDI backbone solution, and interoperability with standards makes them an indispensable partner in serving the needs of this market."

 Proteon will further expand its presence in the Pacific Rim with the opening of an office in Tokyo later this year which will support YDC through a range of joint sales, marketing and customer support programs.
