 YELLOW FREIGHT ANNOUNCES ORGANIZATION CHANGES
 OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- George E. Powell III,


President and Chief Executive Officer of Yellow Freight System, Inc. of Delaware (NASDAQ: YELL), announced changes in the company's corporate structure and disclosed new officers for two operating subsidiaries. The changes are designed to allow greater attention to the corporation's holding company role including coordination of the various subsidiaries' activities and overall strategic planning.
 M. Reid Armstrong was named President of the corporation's primary operating subsidiary, Yellow Freight System, Inc. He most recently held the post of Executive Vice President. He joined the company in 1973 and has held numerous operations and sales management positions during his career.
 The new subsidiary being formed is Yellow Technology Services which will provide information services in support of Yellow's transportation operations and customer information requirements. Robert K. Callaghan, a 25-year veteran of Yellow Freight was named President of the subsidiary company.
 Both Callaghan and Armstrong will report to George E. Powell III. Other officers reporting to Powell in the holding company are David E. Loeffler, Sr. Vice President - Finance and Administration, and Paul Fox, President, Yellow Logistics Services, another subsidiary company.
 In making the announcement, Powell said, "This structure gives the subsidiaries the needed autonomy to focus on their respective businesses and enables us to be more responsive to the changing character of the transportation market, including the logistics and information technology aspects of our industry. This will help us better serve customers' current needs and improve our flexibility to meet their future requirements."
 The corporation has total employment of nearly 28,000 and had combined revenues in 1991 from all subsidiaries of $2.34 billion.
