YANKS A BUNCH; ULTIMATE ULSTER.
We're loving our festivals at the minute - there's a seemingly endless supply of highend product ready for us to hoover up like pop junkies. We're also pretty fond of Americana (as it has become known) so, to keep up the weird drug analogy, reading about Stripes And Stars Americana is a bit like stumbling upon a big bag of heroin - the cue for much thigh slapping and yee-hars!
The Derry festival, on Friday, July 1, and Saturday, July 2, is a celebration of music, cinema and art and features such Americana-influenced bands as Lowly Knights, Murder Balladeers, The 1930s, Captain Kennedy, Sullivan & Gold, Wookalily, Rachel Austin, Porch Song Anthology, Acoustic Dan & The Black Mountain Dipsos, The Heads of State and The Sons of Caliber. There's also a screening of The Last Picture Show - sublime. Check out www.stripesandstars.co.uk for all the information but if our eyes don't deceive us it's only a tenner for a weekend pass. Now that's a real rush...
