XUXA OPENS HER HEART TO HURRICANE ANDREW VICTIMS
MIAMI, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- On Aug. 24, Hurricane Andrew ripped

through the city of Miami, destroying homes and businesses, leaving behind thousands of people homeless. The devastation was so great that the whole world was in awe by this natural disaster.
The news hit Brazil. The television network showed the shattered homes and the misfortune this hurricane brought to thousands. Children were running in the streets barefooted playing in the rubble which was once their home, while their parents desperately searched for food, clean water and a dry place to sleep.
International singing star Xuxa could not sit back while so many children suffered. On Sept. 13, she sent a recorded message to the telethon "Los Hispanos Se Dan La Mano" (Hispanics Lend A Helping Hand), televised nationally by Univision. Her message pleaded with viewers to donate as much as they could to aid the victims of Hurricane Andrew.
Along with her message, Xuxa sent a donation of $100,000 to the American Red Cross for the exclusive use for the relief of Hurricane Andrew victims.
