XSCRIBE ANNOUNCES VISION 486 -- NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART COURT REPORTING PRODUCT

SAN DIEGO, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Xscribe Corp. (NASDAQ: XSCR) announced today that its Legal Systems Division has introduced a state- of-the-art product for court reporting, litigation support and real-time writing. The new Vision 486(TM) combines advanced Intel 486(TM) PC technology with Xscribe's writer and software innovations to create the industry's most sophisticated reporting system: It combines a stenographic writer with a laptop PC in a lightweight, stylish package. Vision 486 runs Xscribe's popular court reporting and litigation support software along with any other IBM-compatible product.
Suren G. Dutia, president and chief executive officer of Xscribe Corp. stated, "The Vision 486 is not just revolutionary, it encompasses the most advanced PC-based technology available today. I believe that Vision 486 is the most innovative and effective real-time technology developed for the court-reporting marketplace. With its many distinctive features and capabilities, we are confident that our new product offering will be a giant step toward automating and speeding up the litigation support process."
Vision 486 is a compact, portable PC that will greatly improve the legal process by enhancing and accelerating the available information. By networking the Vision 486, attorneys and judges can see the testimony on their computer in real-time as it is spoken. At the touch of a button they can search through prior testimony, instantly find selected testimony on integrated video systems, retrieve scanned images of exhibits, and communicate with their home office via modems. Vision 486 is the engine for the first truly portable multimedia litigation support system. This exciting new innovation will benefit both courtrooms and law offices.
Vision 486 also greatly improves the accuracy of real-time writing by combining PC-based real-time edit capabilities with the stenographic input device. Now reporters can edit as they write or during pauses or breaks in the proceedings. This feature also greatly accelerates the availability of the final printed transcript.
Standard features of Vision 486 include Intel 486-SX/33 processor, 4 mb RAM; 65 mb hard-drive; LCD display; instant English translation and readback; external 101 keyboard, color VGA monitor and printer interfaces; and a PCMCIA slot for optional credit-card sized modems, network adapters and back-up disk drives.
Xscribe Corp. designs and markets high-technology software and hardware products for legal professionals, including computer-aided transcription systems for court reporters and real-time captioning systems for the hearing impaired. Xscribe subsidiaries provide micrographics services and micro-imaging products to a wide range of customers. Xscribe's wholly owned subsidiary, Photomatrix Corp., is a leading supplier of high-performance microfilm and document-scanning systems, microfiche duplicators, and touch-screen CRT products.
